The Spy / Thriller Genre Continued - A Twofer

Just a quick note before I get into my two spy / thriller stories. The Trump Death Clock has made an appearance at Trump's rally in Tulsa today, to warn attendees of the consequences of this mass rally in a closed space. This is a link to their page.

Now on to books

The Spy / Thriller Genre.
I'll feature two authors / two books today.

James Grady
1. James Grady. American author Grady was born in Montana in 1949. He is an investigative journalist who is also known for his thrillers. Over his life he has so far written 16 novels. He may be best known for his first novel, Six Days of the Condor (1974), turned into a taut thriller with Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway, renamed for some reason, Three Days of the Condor. Grady is a new author for me and I have yet to read the book but I now have it on my bookshelf. I was interested to note that he has also written other books under the Condor name.

a. Six Days of the Condor.

"CIA operative Malcolm, codenamed Condor, discovers his colleagues butchered in a blood-spattered office, he realizes that only an oversight by the assassins has saved his life. He contacts CIA headquarters for help but when an attempted rendezvous goes wrong, it quickly becomes clear that no one can be trusted. Malcolm disappears into the streets of Washington, hoping to evade the killers long enough to unravel the conspiracy, but will that be enough to save his life?"

Michael Gilbert
2. Michael Gilbert. I have featured Michael Gilbert, an English solicitor and author previously in my look at British cop series. I have enjoyed Inspectors Petrella and Hazelrigg books as well as various standalone novels. Gilbert lived from 1912 - 2006 and wrote 30 novels and a number of  short story collections. My feature books is a collection of short stories which I have yet to tackle.

a. Games Without Rules (1967).

"Mr. Calder lived with a golden deerhound named Rasselas in a cottage in Kent. Mr. Behrens lives with his aunt and keeps bees. No one would in the least suspect that the pair are in fact agents for the British Joint Services Standing Committee and they are often tasked with jobs that no one else can take on – simply because of the extreme nature of the action needed. They are dangerous – and they are watched. Their adventures in this series of thrillers show the author to have a clear grasp of counterintelligence operations. Written with Gilbert’s usual dry wit, panache and style, the suspense is at times killing!"

So there you go, a couple of books for you to check out. Enjoy y0ur weekend. Stay safe!
