A Friday Post - The Science Fiction Novel

Not much to say today as I've done basically nothing all day but read and vegetate. Maybe more tomorrow. So I'll get right into my look at the Sci-Fi novel. This time when I say it is my penultimate post on this topic, I mean it. 😀

The Science Fiction Novel - Michael Cordy

Michael Cordy
Michael Cordy is a British author. He was born in Accra, Ghana, spending most of his childhood in West and East Africa. He has written six books to date. I have two but have yet to try them. From the descriptions they seem similar in topic to either Michael Crichton or Dan Brown. In fact he has been previously criticized for imitating Brown. I'll highlight the two that I currently have on my book shelves and you can see what I mean when I provide the synopses.

a. The Miracle Strain (also The Messiah Code / 1997).

"At the moment of his supreme triumph, a man of science dodges an assassin's bullet and loses everything that truly matters in his life. Now only a miracle can save Dr. Tom Carter's dying daughter: the blood of salvation shed twenty centuries ago.

In the volatile heart of the Middle East, amid the devastating secrets of an ancient brotherhood awaiting a new messiah, Tom Carter must search for answers to the mysteries that have challenged humankind since the death and resurrection of the greatest Healer who ever walked the Earth. Because suddenly Carter's life, the life of his little girl, and the fate of the world hang in the balance ...

After two thousand years, the wait is over ..."

b. The Venus Conspiracy (also True / 2004).

"When Professor Bacci inadvertently unlocks the biochemical key to falling in love and develops a drug capable of creating emotions indistinguishable from the real thing, he is determined that the world benefits from his discovery.

A private Swiss bank steps in, owned by the secretive Kappel family, and offers to fund Bacci's drug. What Bacci doesn't know is the Helmut Kappel has his own plan for abusing the drug's power; a cynical nightmare of breathtaking arrogance far removed from Bacci's naïve vision.

Only two people can stop Kappel's dark vision. One is Bacci's daughter Isabella, a doctor dedicated to saving lives. The other is Kappel's son and heir, Max, a man raised to feel no emotion and show no pain, a killer apparently incapable of love. But before they confront Kappel they must first confront their feelings for each other."

There is a science fiction element there I think. I'll know better once I read the first book. The complete list of Cordy's books can be found at this link

Have a peaceful, safe weekend.
