Bill's 2018 Musical Advent Calendar
Day 16 - Jaki Graham - When a Woman Loves
Jaki Graham has become one of my favorites over the past few years. I'm glad my musical tastes have expanded. This is a wonderful song..
I've sorted out another book to enjoy in December, if I manage to finish the three I'm currently reading.
1. Nevil Shute - Stephen Morris / Pilotage (1923 / 1924). These were Shute's first two books. Pilotage was a continuation of the first book.
"These two related novellas, Stephen Morris and Pilotage, were Nevil Shute’s first works of fiction and drew on his own youthful experiences. Both concern young men obsessed with the early world of aviation. Stephen Morris has just called off his engagement to the girl he loves because he is a penniless graduate with no prospects—but for his dream of building airplanes. Pilotage continues the story, focusing on Stephen's ambitious navigator Peter Dennison, as he tests a daring idea for a new cross-Atlantic airmail service."
Nevil Shute has written some of my favorite novels; On the Beach, Pied Piper, A Town Like Alice, The Far Country. This past year I enjoyed Trustee from the Toolroom (1960). I'm looking forward to ending the year with one of his books.
