Bill's 2018 Musical Advent Calendar, A Reading Update and A New Book too..

Very windy and rainy today. Jo and I are heading off to get our final grocery shopping done shortly, after Pitch Perfect 2.. Such a fun movie.

Bill's 2018 Musical Advent Calendar

Day 22 - Rae Morris - Reborn
I first heard English singer Rae Morris when she sang with the Bombay Bicycle Club on their song, Luna. I've liked many of her songs; e.g. Under the Shadows, and her videos. This song, Reborn, came out in 2017 on her album Someone Out There. Enjoy!

I finished one book this morning, the first one in a combination book, Nevil Shute's first two books, which were discovered by his estate in 1960. Typical excellent Nevil Shute story-telling. Especially interesting if you are at all interested in the history of flying.

1. Stephen Morris by Nevil Shute (1923).

""Finished the first story, Stephen Morris. Excellent for a first novel. Subject is the early days in aircraft manufacturing and flying and trying to keep in business. Also a side romance which while playing a minor role still leaves you feeling very happy. Looking forward to the 2nd story, Pilotage. The story basically follows Stephen Morris, an ex-WWI flyer, who is trying to find work in the aircraft industry. Very under-stated but fascinating story"

New Books

1 of my last book orders of 2018 arrived yesterday.

1. The Real Cool Killers by Chester Himes (Harlem Detectives #2).

"When Harlemites set about each other with knives, it's an everyday kind of happening. But when a white man is shot dead in a Harlem street one steamy evening it means trouble, big trouble.

Plenty of people had motives for killing Galen, a big Greek with too much money and too great a liking for young black girls. But there are complications - like Sonny, high on hash, found standing over the body with a gun in his hand that fires only blanks, a street gang called the Moslems, a disappearing suspect, and the fact that Coffin Ed's own daughter is up to her pretty neck in the whole explosive situation..."

Well, there you go. I hope you're enjoying your weekend. Oh, if you can find it (it is a Canadian show) find The Beaverton Ruins Your Christmas Holiday Special... See if the link works..
