Bill's 2018 Musical Advent Calendar and a Couple of New Books

Well, Bonnie and I went to the vet this morning to check on her foot. It's still swollen so April, one of our vets, took a blood sample and called this afternoon to come up with the next option. So on the 28th, she's going back so they can take some cell samples and send them off for evaluation. The good thing is that it's not really bothering her like it was and she's perky and frisky and eating well.

A couple of the ladies that work at the vet told me that there is a gray whale swimming in the Comox Harbor. I didn't see it but this is the article that CHEK News had on it with some photos. Check it out.

Bill's 2018 Musical Advent Calendar

Day 19 - The Saturdays - Missing You

I first heard of The Saturdays when one of the band members participated on Strictly Come Dancing, that being the lovely Frankie Bridge. I later found one of their songs that I've really enjoyed. Great voices and also instrumentation..

New Books
I dropped off probably my last trade-ins for the year at Nearly New Books. So I took a quick look around while I was there and found a couple that interested me.

1. Ngaio Marsh - When in Rome (Inspector Alleyn #26). One of my favorite mystery series.

"Murder takes a Roman holiday
On an exclusive guided tour of Rome's ancient ruins, a motley crew of tourists gets more than the price of admission. For amidst the serpentine passages of an underground crypt, the shady tour guide disappears, a mysterious murder occurs, and Inspector Roderick Alleyn-undercover on an international drug bust-must focus his keen eye on more than just Rome's breathtaking sights..."

2. Ursula K. Le Guin - A Wizard of Earthsea (Earthsea #1). Over the years I've read Le Guin's Left Hand of Darkness a few times and also enjoyed The Dispossessed. But I've never tried any of her other books. A Wizard of Earthsea is the first book in her Earthsea series. I really want to explore her books more.

"Ged, the greatest sorcerer in all Earthsea, was called Sparrowhawk in his reckless youth.

Hungry for power and knowledge, Sparrowhawk tampered with long-held secrets and loosed a terrible shadow upon the world. This is the tale of his testing, how he mastered the mighty words of power, tamed an ancient dragon, and crossed death's threshold to restore the balance."

Well, there you go folks. Jo and I are watching an old Great British Baking Show before supper. Tonight we might binge watch some of Season 2 of Bosch. Have a great hump day!
